Day 50
Wednesday
22 August
Broome
Another day in paradise. We were awake relatively early and keen to get up and into the day. After breakfast, we donned the walking shoes and wandered all the way into town. Paul checked in at the tackle shop for some info and then we picked up some bait. We stopped at a local café to indulge in a mango smoothie. It was the thickest drink I have had the pleasure of trying to suck up!
By 12.15pm, he was happy to pack it in and we returned to the van for lunch. I took my computer things up to the office, so that I could continue to load up photos to the blog and Facebook, it killed an hour before we needed to head back to the chiro for Paul’s follow up appointment.
When he was crunched, we drove into town and stopped at the Mangrove Hotel. Paul was busy saying how much the place had changed. We made our way to the outdoor area, bought a drink and proceeded to a table overlooking the receded water and the mangroves. It was a nice spot to sit and hang out and should be perfect for the staircase to the moon on Monday.
Once our drinks were finished, we made our way back to the van. We watched an episode of Sons of Anarchy and Michael Jordan’s Playground, before heading out for a walk of suburbia, before the sun disappeared.
When we returned, we set about putting dinner together and ate. Paul sat back and watched another S of A episode, while I went through the photos. We managed to soak up enough time, before organising ourselves and heading into town to check out the movie Breath, which was playing at Sun Picture Garden. Unfortunately, the session was for 8.45pm, so it would be a late one for us.
We waited for the Incredibles 2 to finish and then the doors were opened and we made our way inside. We opted to sit at the back on the bench seats, rather than clamber into the deck chairs that Paul would struggle with.
We bought choc bombs, that were finished before the role-call of new movies and then we settled in to watch the Tim Winton adaptation, that is set in Mum and Dad’s home town of Denmark. We spent most of the movie saying “that’s that spot.” “I know where that is.” Or for Paul, “that’s my fishing spot!”
