Day 7
90 to go
Well going to bed later helped somewhat, as I woke at 6am. Paul wasn’t as lucky, as he barely slept. We managed to just lay there for some time and then I read until 730am and then it was time to get showered and head down stairs.
I drew back the curtains to the back yard. A lively, grey squirrel was jumping about from a nearby tree and then bouncing around in the long grass. He was very entertaining. We chilled on the couch, until Chell surfaced. Then it was Yorkshire tea and weetabix for breakfast.
We chatted to Mum and Dad, who have now taken up residence in Snowdrop Cottage in Hartland. We will join them tomorrow. They are very happy with the facilities, so I am looking forward to heading there to hang out and visit the family.
We got our laundry on and then it was time to take advantage of the Summer sunshine and head out with Alfie dog, for a wander around the meadow. It was lovely to get out and stretch the legs, after a quiet day yesterday. It was quite warm at times, but by the time we were heading back up the final hill it was looking rather dark.
We dropped the dog back at the neighbours and then returned to the house for tea and cheese scones just as it started tipping it down outside. Chell looked into car hire for us, as we will need something for the next 3 weeks.
At 2pm, we went for a drive. We wound our way along narrow lanes through little villages and past green meadows. Eventually, we arrived where Chell houses his plane. We had a look through the shed, as Chell pulled his plane toward the door, so that we could check it out. It was tiny, but looked great.
From there we drove to the Crown Pub, where we were meeting Charlotte and the extended family for a Sunday Roast dinner. We were early, so we went in found a drink seat and ordered a drink. It wasn’t long before the others arrived and the pub suddenly became very noisy.
We enjoyed the chance to catch up and chat about life, since we last saw each other in the summer of 2013/14. So much has happened for everyone since then.
It took a while for the kids to warm up, but once they did they were happy to hang out with us and keep us all entertained. During a break in the weather, we ventured outside to let the kids burn off some energy, but when the rain returned, it was a quick dash back for cover.
At 5.30pm, Dario and Abby made their way home and Chell came to collect us. We said goodbye to Charlotte, Dan and the girls and then we made our way towards home, stopping at the Cricketers Arms pub, for another pint with Chell.
We made it home for 7.30pm, but my head was saying it can’t be that late, as it is still so light. It will take a little while to get used to the long days. We all hung out in the lounge, watching TV and reading. By 930pm I was ready to head up for the night.
