Family & Friends Day

Thursday

25 July

Day 25

71 to go

We had a day of travel today visiting family and friends in different parts of the country. As a result, we were up early and out of the house before 8.30am. Our first destination was Geldeston, two hours from Hitchin. It was a fairly easy drive, avoiding the morning commute traffic.

We arrived at Paul’s Aunty Sheila’s home at 10.20am and enjoyed a lovely couple of hours with her chatting about her life since we last saw each other, more than 12 years ago. We also met her son Dean and Ali.

After enjoying a cuppa together, we had to say goodbye and head on to our next destination, but not before stopping in at the nearest Lidl for a quick sandwich.

Our next destination was Soham, which is near Ely. We visited Ely when we were here in 2012 and checked out the cathedral. We were here to visit Mary, a friend we met through Chell. She has two    poodles, one standard and one miniature puppy, named Gus and Griff. They are very cute and full of life. We also met the cat and her wonderful mum, who is 100 in October and does not look near this age at all.

We had a wonderful afternoon, with delicious desserts and terrific chats. We always enjoy catching up. Hopefully we will see her in Perth sometime in the future.

At 4pm, it was time say goodbye and return to Chell, making our way to Hitchin for 5pm. We caught Chell up on the news and then made a decision on dinner. We went and bought a few bits from M&S and then returned to put things together, before enjoying the down time once again.
