Day 99
Thursday
6 April 2017
Moving day! I really wish we didn’t have to be moving on,
especially seeing we aren’t actually moving away from Melbourne for the next
few days, but with no space here we had to up stumps and travel 20 min away
from the coast to South Dandenong.
The park was easy to find and we were there by 9.50am,
fortunate enough to be able to book in, as our site had been vacated this
morning. We made our way in and set up, before taking a breather. I sorted
lunch and things we would need for our travels, then it was back in the car and
heading back in the direction of our previous caravan park, towards the coast.
We made our way south on the Nepean Highway, stopping
eventually at Oliver’s Hill Lookout, where we had views of Port Phillip Bay and
Frankston foreshore. The water was crystal clear and so inviting, being about
25 degrees.
From here we made our way to the Frankston waterfront and
stopped in. We did a very slow and pained walk along the front, Paul having
injured his ankle some how and making it slow going. There were plenty of
people here making the most of the beautiful weather, strolling along the jetty
or baking on the beach.
We took in the sights including a fenced off sand castle
area they were charging adults $14 to check out. I just took some snaps over
the fence when possible.
We returned to the park, where I took some further photos of
the art installations before we enjoyed our lunch sitting in the sun and taking
it all in.
Conscious that we had parked in a 30min free park bay, we ate
quickly and returned to the car. Knowing Paul was feeling uncomfortable I opted
to return to the van for a lazy afternoon.
We had a couple of hours to kill and I spent most of it
reading my trashy novel and resting up, a rarity on this trip so far, it was
quite nice to have some free time. Paul became restless though and at 3 he was
ready to head out again.
Gathering our things, we were in the car and heading to
Dandenong. We found a park and then went for a walk around the main block. We
felt like a minority here, it was much like walking through Mirrabooka with all
nations represented. We walked into the large shopping complex and did a
circuit, checking out what was on offer. Eventually finding our way out and
returning to the car, ready to head on to our actual destination, 2 Brothers
Brewery in Moorabbin.
We had been told by a few people along our journey to check
this place out. We pulled into the street, again in an industrial estate, but
there were plenty there drinking.
Paul picked up a tasting paddle and sat down to critique it,
we were then given a quick tour out the back, where I did a quick video to add
to Facebook’s We Love Craft Beer site.
We were given the tip to check out Grape & Grain, only a
short drive away, so I found it on Google and then made our way there. This was
a unique place, as it was a bottle shop, added a bar and seating area and now
they brew small batches on site as well. Paul was able to try a couple of beers
and then drool over their collection of craft beers they had for sale. He spoke
to the owner for a while and convinced him to also do a quick spiel for the FB
page.
Once done, we returned to the Getz and made our way home,
joining the commuter traffic in the crawl. I text talked to Chell, catching up
on the goss. When we were finally back, I was straight into dinner, as it was
now 6.30pm and I was starving. A quick stir-fry, soon had us satisfied.
We spent the evening doing our usual quiet stuff. I was
thankful for the free internet, that was fast, free and unlimited. It allowed
me to do a few updates as well as load up the pics.
