DAY 53
SUNDAY
19 February 2017 –
Illawarra 100 v Adelaide 94 –
Game 2 Semi-Final
McLaren Vale
I think I am getting use to this laying in stuff, either
that or I am getting lazier come to think of it, it is probably a bit of both.
I was quite happy to be in bed, hidden under the doona reading my book and
staying warm as toast. Hmmmm.
As we didn’t have plans until 12.30pm I didn’t see any great
need to get moving until 9.00am when Paul started with his morning routine, so
up it was.
I was still slow and slovenly, but managed to get myself
organised to head out at 10.15am heading back to the coast for a look and a
wander. We drove out to Aldinga Beach, passing through some lovely wine
country, covered in green grape vines, while the Sellicks Hill Range loomed
like crumpled cardboard in the distance.
We parked up at the waterfront and took a walk to check it
out, all the while watching the veil of water closing over the ranges and
heading our way. We turned tail and headed back to the car just as the rain
started to come down. We followed the coast road along the front travelling
through Port Willunga and on to Blanche Point that provided a view of Maslin
Beach. Unfortunately we didn’t get far on our walk as the rain bucketed and we
got a little drenched, bugger!
We followed the coast road that continued on to Seaford
Beach where we started our journey last night and we stayed on the path all the
way to Christies Beach again before setting the GPS to Martyn and Cheryl’s home
in Morphett Vale. By 1210pm we were pulled up in their drive, ready to enjoy
our catch up.
Their home is gorgeous and their garden’s full of colourful
plants. We enjoyed chatting around the kitchen table while enjoying lunch and
wine. The hours disappeared with the conversation. Kevin the Burmese cat came to say hello, he
was just beautiful. We were given plenty
of tips on places to visit while on the Fleurieu Peninsula, including where to
watch the basketball tomorrow night.
By the time 5.30pm rolled around it was time to head on
home.
We stopped in at the Woodcroft Tavern to check they had Fox
for tomorrow’s game, which they did and then headed down the road to Mick
O’Shaes to do the same thing, but they didn’t offer Fox. Paul stopped for a
pint anyway and then we continued back to the van for the evening, having
dinner and enjoying some quiet.
We ventured out for a walk at 8pm around the block, checking
out the vineyards within walking distance. There were a few. On our return to
the park we passed a Tawny Frog Mouth Owl, it was too dark to photograph, but
pretty to watch. Once back at the van it
was time to read and think about bed.
