Day 312 - Monday 6 November - Rain rain go away

Day 312–
Monday
6 November –

Mallacoota

The sound of a smoke alarm woke us both at 6.30pm. Beep Beep Beep. We soon realised it wasn’t an alarm, but some very annoying bird that needed exterminating. I managed to block it out somehow and when I woke again it was 8am.
We both needed to go to the loo, so we got out and then went for a brief walk before returning to the van for breakfast. The gloomy day loomed beyond, so we made the decision to get to the golf course before we were rained out.
The course was deserted and after paying the $18 fee through the honesty box and we made our way onto the course. Just like Pambula, it was kangaroo haven and Paul had a substantial gallery when hitting off.

With the course being empty, we were able to make our way around the course fairly quickly, just as well, as the rain started when we were on 6 and by the time we were making our way down the 9th it had really set in and I was glad to make it back to the car.
We made our way back to the van, unloaded the gear and then I went for a shower. Paul followed and I sat down at the computer and loaded the photos for the past few days.
When I was done I went through and cleaned out the Waeco while sorting through the food we need to get through over the next week. Paul cleaned out the freezer in the van fridge, which once again was frozen shut.
When we had finished our chores we jumped in the car to drive the short distance to the Chinese restaurant, it was still raining.  We ordered up from the small yum cha selection, concerned that it would be another Warnambool disaster, but we were pleasantly surprised.

After lunch, we retreated to the van once again, opting to read for a while as the rain continued to fall, putting a dampner on any plans we could have made for the day.
After laying around for a couple of hours, I returned to the computer and put on PLL to watch a couple of episodes as the afternoon was washed away. We had dinner and then continued to sit on our bums, cursing the inability to get out for a walk. Thankfully the toilet block was far enough away to add the count steadily during the afternoon, but nowhere near the total needed. Oh well.
I attempted to ring home, but the phone and wifi connection were pretty ordinary and neither a Facebook video chat or phone call were successful. It wasn't long after, that we were looking to head to bed to read before ending the rainy day.
