Day 316
Friday 10 November
Sale - Dalyston
We were awake at 7am, after I slept well but Paul spent much of the night coaching basketball. We stayed in bed reading until 745am, when we got up for a shower. We decided to wander across to the newer and nicer shower block, when we got there though we found it locked up, so we drudged back to the smaller and more cramped facilities.
We had breakfast and then with the van all packed up, we made our way from Sale. The drive was far easier today with flat, straight roads through plenty of green pasture feeding the cows. We passed through the larger town of Traralgon half an hour into our journey, but after that it was quiet on the town front. I spent the initial part of the journey loading the blog, though the internet was intermittent, so it didn’t last. I then took out the needle and thread to patch a pair of shorts I had ripped a hole in.
Just after 11am, we pulled in to Dalyston Rec ground, another place we had stayed at our first time around, a place run by family friends from back home. We were met by Pidge, then settled the van into its resting place for the next few days.
Paul got busy moving things out of the car to the van, so that we could go through and give it a really good clean. Boy was there a lot to clean out.
We had some other jobs to work on in the van and then I did some bits on the computer that I needed to attend to before we did a grocery run in Wonthaggi. Once in town, our first stop was the pub to check for Fox Sport. With that a go, we grabbed our shopping and then drove home.
We had our lunch and then I set about finding a caravan park to move on to. For the first time this trip, it took me 5 calls to separate places before I finally found one. It was starting to look desperate, so we were glad to get in.
After sitting around for a bit, we took advantage of the oval and walked a few laps, then returned to the van. I sat watching another episode of PLL and then it was out again for more laps. This time we returned to make dinner, which we devoured not realising how hungry we both were.
Dishes done, we were back outside. Pidge told about a walk to take that took in a River, so we followed his directions. The path was basically the lanes between the farming paddocks, where many were occupied by cows.
We found the river and a bridge to cross. We could see plenty of evidence of yabbies with so many holes in the banks of the river and fish jumping. We then followed another meandering road back to the oval, happy to have reached the step count.
Once in the van it was time to rest up. I watched another PLL episode, while Paul read. I did some net checking for info we needed for tomorrow’s run into Melbourne and then It was time to think about heading to bed.
