DAY 9
FRIDAY
6 January 2017 –
Denmark - Albany
A busy start to the day was ahead for us today as we had
confirmation the car was being written off by the insurers. We were up and
organised early and joining the others in the house only to find Dad heaving
his guts up. Urgh. Just as well we were heading out. Hope it isn’t contagious.
We borrowed Mum’s car and made our way to the panel beater
in Albany where we picked up the plates and our effects. We then found the
local Auto One to investigate tyre pressure gauges. The guys in the store were
so awesome. I was super impressed with them all and Boyd who took care of our
enquiry.
With our order placed and directions to a car yard in hand,
we took off by foot through the industrial estate. When we arrived at our
destination, there were no little cars of interest, so we returned to the car
and made our way to the Department of Transport to hand in our plates.
As a stroke of irony, the rego for the now written off
Charade, was paid at midnight through my scheduled payments. God Dammit! When we arrived at the licensing
centre we were glad to find they hadn’t received the payment in their system as
yet and the lady expected we would likely have the money returned. Yipppee.
We did a quick shop in town for Green Chicken Curry
ingredients, Paul’s signature dish, then made our way back out to Albany Hwy to
check other used car sites. Again, nothing jumped out at us. Just as well we
had seen a Hyundai Getz online at Manjimup, so Paul rang to enquire about it
after getting the ok from the Government Dept. responsible for authorising our
dolly trailer.
With the main things done I decided to take the tourist
route over Mount Clarence and on to Middleton Beach. We could see the weather
really coming in, but Middleton Beach was actually quite lovely. We wandered
the beach before deciding to have lunch at the Hybla Tavern. The views and food
were wonderful.
Full bellies and feeling relaxed, we returned to the car and
headed out of Albany via the Lower Denmark Road. We passed a wrecker on the
way, so we checked for trailer tyres, as we need a spare. Unfortunately we need
the trailer with us, so a job for another time.
Mum was just getting ready to head out when we got in. Dad
was still in bed. We organised dinner and then Paul rang the car yard back and
bought the Getz. Best thing is they will deliver! So Monday we will be back in
business and no time lost. Yay.
As the weather continued to be inclement we spent the rest
of the afternoon being lazy. Brad and co returned to disturb the peace. Dad surfaced every now and again looking like
death. The kids were kept entertained on devices, before they were fed and then
we could all enjoy our delicious Thai green chicken curry and cauliflower rice.
Yummo.
Paul and I decided to walk off our dinner with a stroll to
Poison Point before the rain set in again.
After enjoying dessert, Paul was off to bed. I watched some of Never
Ending Story with Jack before calling it a night as well. It’s been a
productive day.
