Day 228
Sunday
13 August 2017
Eumundi – Cooroy – Noosa – Sunshine Beach – Coolum Beach
Sunday and our last day on the Sunshine Coast began like all
the others, staying in bed until 8am reading and then getting up and underway.
Just after 9am we made our way to Cooroy Golf Club. It was quite busy but we
were told there was a gap and we could get out there. We were also that the 9th
doesn’t come back to the clubhouse and we would have to traipse back over the
course to return, but we were free to play a couple of the holes on the way in.
It was a lovely day for being outdoors and getting the steps up.
Paul had a reasonable round, playing better than he did for
the past few, so he was happy. We completed the 9, jumping ahead of a couple of
groups as we went and then began our trek back, playing three more as we made
our way back to the car park and then home to the van.
We packed up our lunch and then drove on to Noosa where we
were going to stop for lunch and walk the boardwalk but the traffic had us crawling
2km before making it to the centre and we figured we would struggle to find a
place to park. We took a left away from the snarl and headed up into the suburb
before following a road into the national park and ending up at Laguna Lookout.
We stopped to check out the view over Noosa and the river and perched ourselves
on the wall where we guarded our lunch from the kookaburra eying it off.
We then drove on to Sunshine Beach, a very posh suburb with
numerous multistorey dwellings covering the hillside. This was busy as well,
but we managed to find a spot to pull into along the roadside.
We walked down to the beach and watched the people enjoying
the water and the sand. We kicked off the shoes and walked the beach to the
point. I was eager to be able to say I had actually been in the waters of the
Sunshine Coast.
At the far end of the beach was a dog exercise area. All the
pooches keen to chase a ball and run amongst the waves that were rolling in. It
made me miss Yogi, he would have loved a run here.
We made our way from the beach and up a path, before making
the trek up a steep road and then back in the general direction of the car. We
followed a path down hill that delivered us back at the car, hot and sweaty and
in need of a drink.
We drove the coastal strip to Coolum Beach pulling up
outside the hotel. We popped in for a sneaky cold one, read the Sunday Mail
while there, not much but depression in that one. I am happy to check out of it
all for now.
We returned to the caravan park for just after 3pm, enjoying
our cheese and crackers after unpacking the car. Paul read, I loaded the photos and the blog,
enjoying the afternoon sun.
At 4pm we drove to the Imperial Hotel so that I could use their wifi and load on as much as I could in the hour I was given. We enjoyed a drink and the background music of a live entertainer as I feverishly loaded everything I could before we returned to the van.
