Day 354
Monday 18 December
Albany – Denmark
It was a wild and woolly night last night, one very heavy shower went through that woke me. Up until that point, I had managed to be soundly asleep. I was surprised at how easily I did switch off, considering the tense nature of the day and the general brain fatigue. Paul however was awake for a fair while.
We heard the workers arrive at 6am and shortly after the rain and thunder returned. Hello Albany!we eventually got out at 630am, had breakfast, got ourselves organised and then made our way on to the Bridgestone we had passed on the way in to town last night.
We parked in the front carpark waiting for the place to open at 8am, keeping ourselves occupied with our books. When the workers arrived Paul was off to enquire about the tyre, but unfortunately they couldn’t help us until tomorrow. We then ventured down the road to Tyrepower, where we had a little more success, they could help us out at 11am.
With time to kill, we drove to Auto One to put in one of the tyre sensors that has ceased working a month or so ago. We then drove into town looking to go for a walk, but we only managed a short lap as the pelting rain returned. I rang home to let them know our plans. Once we were back at the car, we drove out to Bunnings to pick up a plant for Christmas and then onto Rusty’s Marine to pick up a cheque for Dad.
We stopped for fuel before doing a grocery run at Woolies, dodging the rain shower that set in once again. It really wasn’t a very nice day and as always was raining in Albany. It happens every time we come in.
We returned to town ready for a rather early midmorning pie at Jesters enjoying our chicken choice. We then went to Rivers, as Paul wanted to buy me new things for Christmas as the ons I have worn this year have a rather large hole in the heel, Lucky me.
Trying to kill time, we walked up to Kate’s Place and stopped in for a hot chocolate in the very funky café. We could watch the weather come in over the bay and were happy to have found refuge inside the warm shop.
We made our way back to the tyre place at 1030am. I left Paul with it and made my way to Mum and Dad’s in Denmark, eager to see Yogi dog. I rang mum when I parked on the verge, so that the home coming could be filmed. Yogi came running when he saw me at the end of the driveway, happily bouncing and looking for cuddles.
I said hi to the folks and we went inside, thinking Paul would be atleast 30min longer, but he arrived soon after, parking the van up the back and having Yogi take off form inside to greet him. It all happened so fast that I didn’t get the chance to capture it in video too.
We hung out, chatting for a while and giving Yogi lots of cuddles, but then we went out to the van to set up for the week. We were so glad to be back with the dog, but I was feeling a little overwhelmed at being back here.
We returned to the house for lunch and more of a chat, but then it was back to the van to wrap Christmas presents. I watched another episode of A Place To Call Home, happy for a little space. Once 430pm arrived we returned to the house for the evening.
I got busy going through some of the video footage, while the tv played in the background. We again sat around chatting, as the weather again turned nasty and the rain was thrown down. This is summer.
We ate a light dinner and sat about for the evening before we finally succumbed and dragged ourselves back to the van with our furry shadow in tow.
