Day 249
Sunday
3 September 2017 –
Bonogin - Casino
Despite our late night, we were up early and eager to get on
the road. We set about organising the inside of the van then had to wait for
Kirsty to appear and mover her car so that we were able to move the van down to
where the trailer was and set about hooking it up. It took a bit of mucking
around but we got there eventually.
We said our goodbyes to Kirsty and Scott and then we moved
ourselves out onto the road where we were able to put the car on and begin our
travels into northern New South Wales.
Today the M1 was far less busy and it was easy driving out of
Queensland. We made our way past some of the places we had seen yesterday
before taking the road right and heading into the country.
We made our way through some quaint little towns with cute
homes dotting the roads. We passed alongside macadamia farms where rows of nut
trees could be seen following the contours of the land. Cows and horses once
again dominated the paddocks we drove by.
We entered the city of Lismore, driving through the city
centre before continuing on. The roads out here are in disrepair and need
urgent attention. Dodging potholes became impossible as we navigated to the
outskirts of Casino, the beef capital of NSW.
By midday, we had reached the Casino, over 50’s lifestyle
village where we booked in for four days and then found our spot to park up.
After setting ourselves up we were straight to bed to try and catch up on sleep
we missed out on.
The rest of the day was spent being very lazy, between
sleeping and reading we did very little else. We did however find time to do a
walk of the massive park , checking out the mobile homes and the campers and
caravans that every home seemed to have.
