Day 263 - Monday 18 September - Grafton

Day 263
Monday
18 September 2017- Started my next novel "The Sisters", by Claire Douglas. The cover says it will be enjoyed by those who liked "The Girl on the Train" so I am expecting a good twist with this one.

Grafton

Well at least I woke feeling somewhat brighter, after 36 hours in bed and most of that asleep. We got out at 8.30am, had a shower and returned for breakfast that I managed to keep down. We put our washing through, said hello to the animals and then sat in the van reading as we waited for the cycle to complete its course.
Just as we were thinking about making our way in to collect the washing, Cheryl and Glenn arrived home. We chatted with them for a short while, meeting the two other dogs, Aisla and Neville and then wen tot put out our washing.
We joined them inside for a drink and a chat, sharing travel stories and it wasn’t long before Sarah was home for lunch. We made our way to the van for lunch as Sarah returned to work and Cheryl and Glenn went off shopping.
I had a another lay down on the bed for a bit, before deciding we should get out for some fresh air and we drove into Grafton, parking below the pedestrian, train and motor vehicle bridge that crosses the Clarence River. We managed a walk along the underside of the bridge. The pedestrian path follows the train line and I was glad there were none coming or going as we traversed the water course below.

We returned via the other side, watching the new bridge works taking place and then it was straight back to the car and home again, the venture enough to do me in.
We took it easy in the van for a while, before joining everyone inside. The smell of dinner was wafting through and making us all hungry. We sat chatting and watching TV, enjoying being around other people for the afternoon.
At 7, we sat down to a wonderful roast pork dinner that was just yum, it was a shame that I was only up to eating a small amount as I didn’t want to test the belly. Cheryl kept us entertained after dinner with different family stories. Glenn wasn’t feeling great so retreated to the comfort of the couch.
By 9pm, I was feeling drained as well and we made our way back to the van falling straight into bed.
