Saturday 23 June 2012 - Goodbye
Devon
Day 71 and 88 to go
After our late night we
didn’t particularly want to move but with a long day of driving we knew we just
had to get out. I had a shower and then Sharon asked if we would go and collect
John from the golf course as he was unable to continue playing due to the cyst
he had removed from his back on Wednesday.
With us all dressed we piled
into the Jimny and drove to Westward Ho! 15 min away. We crammed the golf clubs
in and then the four of us drove back to Instow.
We had breakfast and sat
around chatting for the final morning discussing our holiday and their plans to
travel OZ in 2 years. With breakfast complete we packed the car said our
goodbyes and were back in the car at 10.30am and heading to Hitchin 4 ½ hours
away.
The road was crammed with holidaymakers
and a crash on the M5 slowed our journey somewhat. Once we passed Bristol and
entered the M4 we had a smoother run.
At the halfway point we stopped
for fuel and a burger before completing the final 200km. We avoided taking the
A1 passed Knebworth as the Chilli Peppers are playing there tonight and the traffic
would have been horrendous.
At 3.30pm we pulled into
Chell’s driveway again. Chell wasn’t in so we brought in our things before
crashing on the couch.
I checked emails and caught
up on the Blog. Chell came in from shopping at 4.15pm so we had a quick chat
with him before he got back into the books. Paul watched some of the British
Supersport races in between napping.
Chell then made us dinner, pasta and salad. It was delicious and just what we needed. We watched some of Big Bang before Chell put the movie "The Thing" on which we watched. It really was ridiculous, but it didn't require thinking so was a good filler. When it finished at 9.30pm we watched some of the Spain v France soccer match before watching the "Inbetweeners" movie. It was rude and crude but quite funny. At the end of the movie it was time to call it a night.
