Plymouth and Back

Wednesday 20 June 2012  - On the Road to Plymouth and back
Day 68 and 91 to go
Another 8.30 wake up but we were a bit lazy not wanting to get out too quick. The men next door were back at it clearing the block so we got up, ready and went down for breakfast. With the cereal and toast sorted we grabbed all of our things and began our day or exploring heading on to Tavistock.  The drive was a beautiful one as we skirted along Dartmoor a green patchwork of fields dotted with sheep and cows.

We arrived in Tavistock at 11.30am. This town has a rich tin mining history.  We walked through the pannier markets and then went into the small museum about the town that had some very interesting artefacts including a school punishment book and a Punch and Judy display.
We then continued our drive to the coastal port town of Plymouth. This is quite a large town that also has a naval base just off shore. We parked and then began our walk around the Barbican and on to the Hoe.

We walked along the sea front wall enjoying the sunshine that was attempting to push through the thick cloud. We continued to walk into the town where we found an Irish pub to have a pint before walking around the corner to the all you can eat Chinese. It was delicious but we had to eat quickly as our parking was to run out in 20 min.
We then legged it around the wharf before making it back to the car with minutes to spare. With the GPS set we drove north going over the Saltash bridge and through Launceston before making it to Holsworthy an hour away. We decided we would stop for a pint in the Kings Arms within the town square.  We attempted to find the hardware shop that Dad use to work in, but it appears to be gone.
With our wander around complete we drove home to Sharon and John’s getting in at 5.15pm. We sat in the lounge resting. The rain was just starting to come down. Unfortunately it is going to being crappy weather for the next few days.
Sharon and John returned home from work at 6pm we sat around chatting and watching youtube clips of Stephen Lynch a politically incorrect comedian.
We then had dinner enjoying the spaghetti bog Sharon had made for us. We sat around chatting before returning to the lounge where John treated us to a couple of English series "The Inbetweeners" and "Shameless". They were both quite amusing and we had a good laugh. After that it was time for bed.
