Not another birthday.

Tuesday 12 June 2012  - Another Birthday
Day 61 and 98 to go
Could we get any lazier? Today we didn’t wake til 9.15. Oh happy holidays!
We surfaced shortly after and wandered downstairs. Chell was already into the study. We had breakfast, watched TV and surfed the net. I was very lucky to have many birthday wishes from family & friends. Thanks all.
We saw some local news that said some place here had a months worth of rain in one day yesterday. I guess that explains all of the flooding. I then checked home and saw that the weather is expected to be really bad over the next 24 hours.
We messaged home to see how the house is fairing to hear that Paul’s shed was flooded last week. Guess we may have an insurance claim to fill out on our return if the carpets are ruined again. I hope it fairs a bit better today.  I also hope everyone at home I fairing ok with stormy weather. It isn’t much fun.
We didn’t move far off the couch. I am sure we are making our own indent on it! I did some printing of bits we need with the continuation of the holiday. Paul finally managed to catch Jaden on Skype and we were able to talk him, Renee and Merida for 45min. It was great to see them all and catch up on all the goings on with them at home. A great birthday present.
Chell was finished his study by 2pm and we made a salad sandwich for lunch. We then made a booking to complete the Old Hooky brewery tour in the Cotswolds on Friday morning before going to practice day at Silverstone.
Paul was given a pair of Chell’s jeans that no longer fit and thankfully they fit him so he can get out of his grandad pants and into something a little more appealing. With the clothing sorted we all went out to visit Chell’s mum Carol.
We collected Maisie on the way and then drove to Stevenage where we met Carol at her home. We sat and had a cuppa while we chatted for a while. It was great to finally meet Carol whom I have heard of.

By 4.30pm we needed to get going and Chell drove us home. We watched the news before tuning into more soccer, this time Greece v Czech.  We sat for a bit before getting dressed ready to go out for dinner. Dario arrived just after 6.30. I had three handsome well-dressed men to go out to dinner with. What a birthday present.
We drove into Hitchin and parked near the market square and then walked to the Italian restaurant Strada. We were shown our table, where we sat and read the menu with mouths watering. Mary arrived just after 7.30pm. It was fantastic that she made the trip down after leaving work in London.
We ordered our meals after finally making a decision. There were so many yummy choices. We ate our entrees and mains while enjoying great conversation and the night disappeared quickly. At 9.30 we settled the account and went for a walk through the town.
We wandered the square looking at the old buildings in the fading light. We made it to the church that was lit up before walking to the river’s edge. There was a swan sitting up on the bank. It was very picturesque.

With our night walk done Dario drove us home before heading on. We hung out in the lounge and I showed Mary some of our photos while we enjoyed a glass of champagne, but with it creeping up to near midnight and Mary almost asleep on the couch we called it a night.
